Exhibition Park in the southeast corner of the larger Town Moor common ground has numerous facilities including sports areas, a boating lake and playgrounds. The area was named Exhibition Park after the Jubilee Exhibition in 1887, the only remaining fixture from that time is the bandstand. Today other than being a nice area to run through the main attraction for a runner is the cafe, perfect for a coffee after a run, before the Great North Run which starts nearby or after the Saturday parkrun.
