Tips from the Community

Gravel bike is good. MTB better for freshly laid sections of new track with large stones yet to bed in. Peaceful place to be.

This is a nice area to ride, it is a steady descent with spectacular valley views ahead. Good array of trees and open land

This area is not easy to climb. It looks like these are fresh tracks as of June 2025, they lead up to wind turbine sites. The surface has not been compacted down enough to get anywhere near a smooth surface. You can ride up here but it saps the energy and strength, not possible to retain decent motion. Be prepared to swet.

This section takes some effort and determination to ride through. There was a strong headwind whilst climbing through the enclosed steep sided valley. The surface is good, firm and gravel.

You are afforded some wonderful views of Castlehill Reservoir from this point just off the main road. This is a great starting point to explore many of the delights this area has to offer, including Seamab and Commonedge Hill.
