The North Water Viaduct is a great wide trail for walking and biking that leads over River North Esk and offers a nice view of the second bridge with its arches now used by cars. Back in the day, is was used for the railway built by the Montrose and Bervie Railway in 1865.

Parkrun is a fun and friendly free 5km run. It's on every Saturday at 9:30 here and at loads of other locations around the world. The Montrose Parkrun is a single 5km loop. It's entirely off road and although it follows mainly surfaced trails some bits can get muddy. It's run and marshalled by volunteers so say thanks and consider volunteering occasionally at your local Parkrun. After the Montrose event runners head for a social post run coffee at the Charleton Fruit Farm cafe.

The walk between Inverbervie and Gourdon has a good path, tarmac surface and can easily be done as a round trip in around an hour.

A picturesque little harbour in Gourdon along the costal path. The fish and chip shop is a good place for food too. The costal path continues south to Johnshaven.
