Already in the late 19th century, Lajos Bella researched all the hilltop settlements around Sopron. He discovered 136 large and 60 smaller burial mounds on Burgstallberg. Around 1970, Gyula Szádeczky-Kardos found only a total of 159 of them during renewed surveying and mapping work. Systematic excavations took place from 1971 to 1978 under the direction of Erzsébet Patek.

Its dominant plant species is the red fescue (red fescue mountain meadow). Regular mowing is necessary for the meadow to survive, otherwise the area would become wooded. It is a popular dog walking area for dog owners from Sopron.

The park is located in the Alsó-Lővérek district of Sopron, where there are monuments related to the history of Sopron. In 1277, IV King László made Sopron a free royal city as a reward after opening the gates to him, and so he managed to recapture the city. In 1977, the commemorative sculpture group “Seven Seals” was prepared for the 700th anniversary of the event. Seven cast concrete millstones/seals are scattered throughout the park, with different figures in the center. Today they are empty except for one of the round stones. On August 20, 1996, the Transylvanian District of Sopron erected a Transylvanian Gate at the entrance to the park. The Trianon monument in the park was also inaugurated in 2010 on the initiative of the association. After the original oak monument began to rot, a new monument was needed. For the 90th anniversary, the monument was completed, consisting of a piece of stone from Székelyföld and standing on a marble base. It is surrounded by seven gravestones that commemorate the seven parts of the country that were demolished. The bronze map is the work of the sculptor Emma Sz. Egyed.

One of Hungary's oldest public parks was named in honor of the tragically deceased Queen Elisabeth in 1899. Protected since 1942, the area is home to several special plants, including an outstanding specimen of the mountain mammoth, which is the tallest specimen in Hungary. When the garden was renovated in 2015, the area of the former restaurant was marked with a wooden fence and the music pavilion was also rebuilt. The botanical diversity was also taken care of; tulip tree, Californian wingnut, Japanese flowering cherry, copper beech, American sweetgum tree, sweet chestnut, ginkgo tree, flesh-red horse chestnut, olive willow pear complement the huge original tree population consisting of chestnuts, plane trees and Japanese cord trees. Bald cypresses, firs and black pine form the evergreen flora of the garden, but the shrubs are also diverse. The park is a favorite recreational area for locals to walk, cycle, jog or simply have a chat. Next to the stream there is a playground for children and a street workout area for the older ones. In summer, various concerts of different genres take place in the music pavilion.
