The von Seckendorffs shaped Meuselwitz for centuries. Unfortunately, the castle was hit by an air raid during World War II. After the war, the rest of the castle was demolished to use the building material for houses. The orangery was also hit by a bomb so that this building burned down. The roof of the orangery collapsed a few years later: in 1954. Fortunately, the orangery building was rebuilt true to the original in the 1960s, so that from 1969 a museum opened here and concerts were even held here. The building of the Orangery Friedrich II is said to have been an inspiration for the design of Sanssouci. A certain resemblance cannot be denied...

... at the Meuselwitz bus station It is the last remnant of the former palace complex (from where the Seckendorff family helped shape the fortunes of the town of Meuselwitz for over 300 years). It was built between 1724 and 1727 as part of the expansion of the Seckendorff Palace, based on designs by the Electorate of Saxony's state architect David Schatz, presumably by the town architect Georg Hellbrunn. It is said that the late baroque building served as a model for the Sanssouci Palace, built in 1745. After several restoration phases, the building seemed to have fallen into disrepair in the 1980s. Between 1991 and 1998, after emergency securing, a comprehensive renovation of the entire building was carried out. Since the summer of 1998, the Orangery has been open to visitors with an attractive cafe/restaurant and a ballroom for cultural, literary and other events. https://www.meuselwitz.org/katalog/mandat.php?mandat=215746&categorie=6875
