Ribe is not only Denmark's oldest city and truly worth seeing, but it's also easy to visit. From the South parking lot (free), you can reach the cathedral in just a few minutes. You'll have taken at least 20 photos along the way. The cathedral is free to visit, but climbing the tower costs money. Otherwise, there's no shortage of restaurants and charming shops, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

This long route through various natural areas, marshlands and forests takes you to Gasse Høje, the highest point in the region at 51 metres, from where you can see Rømø, seven church towers and, on a clear day, even as far as Esbjerg. In the area you will find old burial mounds as evidence of early settlement and walk-in bunkers that were built between 1916 and 1918 as part of the German "Sikringsstellung NORD". This defence system stretched across southern Jutland and comprised a total of 900 concrete structures, including various cannon batteries that were intended to prevent a feared English attack from the north.
