The forest called "Redzeń" appeared already in Jan Długosz's work, who mentioned the chapter beehives existing there. In the 1531 inspection, the "Radzany" forest was mentioned, and the records from the last quarter of the 18th century mention "Redziny, a large forest, stretching all the way to Dłutów".

Most of those buried here fell during the so-called Łódź Operation, which took place between the German and Russian armies in the period from November to December 1914. Most of them are victims of fighting in the immediate vicinity of Wiączyń, as well as Olechów, Janów, Nowosolna, Dąbrowa, Bedoń and Feliksin. Soldiers who fell in the area during other periods of the Great War are also buried here. According to estimates, about 9 thousand soldiers are buried in the cemetery. Among them are Poles conscripted into the Russian or German army.
