The Kauzenmühle near Giebelstadt is located between Ingolstadt and Sulzdorf, south of Würzburg. It was built in 1577 by Philipp Geyer von Giebelstadt as a watermill, partly using the remains of an older water castle. This castle had already been destroyed in 1441 and finally in the Peasants' War in 1525. In the 19th century, a popular inn was added to the mill. After the Second World War, the inn operation was abandoned; the property was henceforth used for agricultural purposes. Today, the Kauzenmühle is a reminder of both the milling history and the events of the Franconian Peasants' War of 1525.

Attention: As ground-nesting birds are currently located directly on the trail, Fürstentrail Part 2 is closed until autumn 2026. Please do not damage or bypass the barriers, as this would endanger the animals. Status: May 2026

Beautiful chapel with unusual, octagonal architecture. Unfortunately, you can't look inside, it's cordoned off.

It is not a mountain hut in that sense. It belongs to the state forests and is used for forest workers and driven hunts.
