In 1627, the last female aurochs died here. The species had its last refuge in Poland. Its typical habitat was deciduous and mixed forests. The aurochs were under the special protection of Polish kings, and only the monarch could hunt them. The dwindling herds were cared for by royal overseers and members of a special hunting service. Because they reported on the animals' condition, the history of the species' decline is well-known. In the 14th and 15th centuries, aurochs occurred only in Masovia and perhaps in the southern Lublin region. By the 16th century, their range was limited to the Wiskicka and Jaktorowska Forests. By the mid-16th century, the aurochs population numbered around 50 individuals. Over time, their numbers dwindled, and the animals occupied an increasingly smaller area. Apparently, by the end of the 16th century, supervisory discipline in the last aurochs refuge had relaxed, proper care for the offspring was lacking, and diseases were introduced.

The main element of the complex is the palace built in 1936 according to the design of Stanisław Grochowicz, for the Wierusz-Kowalski family – the first owners. In the year of the outbreak of World War II, including during the Battle of Brwinów, the palace served as a field hospital. After the victory of the German side, the hospital was liquidated, and in 1940 the palace became the property of the Management Board of Landed and Agricultural Estates – Liegenschaft. After the end of the war, in September 1946, the plundered and destroyed palace, together with over seven hectares of land, came into the possession of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW).

The residential building, rebuilt from a flax spinning mill, was built in 1913 in Żyrardów. It was one of the most modern buildings of the Linen Plant and one of the first in the world made of reinforced concrete, adapted to the loads resulting from the work of several thousand spindles. In order to evenly distribute the stresses and vibrations of the building, the roof structure was loaded with earth, and then plants were planted. There was a fire tank on the roof of the building. The water, which was drawn from the Górny Staw on Pisia Gągolin, was to flood all the floors of the building in turn in the event of a fire. On the top floor, below the fire tank, there were two other huge water tanks used to store water used for flax processing (so-called wet spinners). The water was drawn from a source located on the factory premises. It was the cleanest and healthiest water in Żyrardów.

A chapel on the bank of the Rokitnica River, slightly off to the side of the road, but well-kept and in quite good condition, with a statue of Mary inside.
