Bunker No. 39 – FORTIFIED AREA SILESIA

Polish heavy combat bunker with the original number 39 located in the park. "Mieszkańców Heiloo" in Świętochłowice was built as part of the 2nd Defense Line of the Fortified Area "Śląsk" in 1937. It is one of the few facilities in Silesia intended for leading fire, the so-called "blockhouse". The shelter was built partly in the "E" resistance class, as the walls exposed to fire are 2.00 meters thick.
There are 13 rooms in the bunker and all of them, excluding the heavy machine gun combat chambers and the emergency room of the crew, were separated by an armored, gas-tight partition door. The facility has 3 shooting ranges for heavy machine guns.
Free visiting is possible in the period May-September every 1st and 3rd Saturday and Sunday of the month from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Bytom

Highlight • Settlement

Bytom is part of the Upper Silesian industrial area. This is something like the Polish Ruhr. Different cities join together to form a metropolis, and when you cycle through it, you often do not realize that you're already in another city. And there is something else the region has in common with the pot: structural change, which is still in full swing here. The state mining companies are still there with their environmental problems, but are gradually being replaced by new jobs in the service sector.

The city park named after Franciszek Kachel in Bytom is one of the oldest and most fully preserved green areas with utility and recreational functions in the region.
Its origins date back to 1840, when Hubert von Tiele-Winckler donated 330 acres of manor forest to the city. The current layout was created largely on the wasteland of the former Teresa mine and is an important example of the harmonious integration of the post-industrial landscape into the structure of the park, e.g. by using the post-mining heap, which was transformed into the so-called The Mountain of Love with a rock garden.

Unfortunately, after the railway line was renovated, 132 murals disappeared due to the construction of new viaduct abutments. It's hoped that new ones will be created.

A tragic place, driving over sharp stones and debris can end the ride before it even begins. The section to Bytom is full of garbage, glass, holes and puddles under the bridges. Like in a landfill. Glinianki is quite nice, but not worth the drive. I avoid it as much as I can, but sometimes it's impossible🤨

As for my taste not a beautiful town. Nonetheless there's a nice and largely green park for some rest.
