The house of the Schlieffen merchant family was built in the 15th century, making it one of the oldest surviving houses in Kolberg. Until its destruction at the end of World War II in 1945, it retained the typical layout of medieval burgher houses: a drivable hall with the counting house on the ground floor and the crane, used to hoist goods to the upper floors. Between 1938 and 1945, it housed a museum for Joachim Nettelbeck (1738–1824), who had distinguished himself in the defense of the city against Napoleon's troops in 1806. Today, the burgher house belongs to the arms museum.
