Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gruta. First mentioned in a document from 1282. During the Swedish wars it was significantly damaged, renovated in 1670. The tower also comes from this period. Gothic church, oriented, built of brick in the Wendish arrangement on a stone foundation, single-nave. In the presbytery there is a cross-ribbed vault, in the nave an apparent cradle. The church's equipment is late Baroque from the first quarter of the 18th century. Of particular note is the figure of the Virgin Mary Enthroned with Child from the mid-13th century (late Romanesque). The history of the church is associated with a legend concerning the origin of the name of the town of Gruta. According to accounts, it was supposed to have been built on the site of a cave in which a pagan temple was located. Legends associated with a given place cause them to acquire the attribute of a certain kind of magic, which prevents you from rushing further and, after stopping for a moment, not being interested in them. In this place, according to legend, the Virgin Mary appeared on October 16, 1719 to an 11-year-old shepherd in an image painted on a sheet of metal surrounded by light. This painting disappeared, and in the place where it was searched, a spring gushed out, which was later covered with a wall. Crowds of pilgrims began to arrive at the hastily erected chapel with an altar dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, filling the surrounding fields with prayers. The first chapel was built in 1719 by devotees of Our Lady shortly after Her miraculous apparition. The current chapel was built in 1946 on the site of the previous ones.
