The temple was built as a Protestant church between 1847 and 1854. It was built on the site of the former wooden Protestant church, which burned down in one of the many fires that frequently hit the city in the 19th century. In 1948 it was renamed the Holy Cross Church. In 1958 the church's previous name was restored.

I was only there by bike, so I didn't swim. There is a beach, there is water, there are signs prohibiting access and swimming. This is a military site, presumably for training and shooting exercises on the water. But there were also people there, so I don't know to what extent this ban is being observed.

The outer bailey, where there is a manor house called Kasztelanówka and an outbuilding from the 18th century. Currently, there is a Museum of the Międzyrzecz Land there.
