Ludendorff Bridge - a railway bridge in the city of Remagen (Rhineland-Palatinate), 325 meters long, built during World War I to increase the efficiency of transporting soldiers and war materials to the Western Front. The bridge was designed by Karl Wiener. Its name comes from General Erich Ludendorff.
During World War II, on March 7, 1945, it was captured by the American 9th Armored Division. It was the only intact bridge across the Rhine in Allied hands, and two attempts by the defenders to blow it up ended in failure. The capture of the bridge was called the "Miracle of Remagen". The Germans tried to destroy the bridge using planes and V2 rockets, but without success. On March 17, 1945, the Ludendorff Bridge collapsed due to damage - 30 American soldiers lost their lives.
These events were shown in the 1969 American film "The Bridge At Remagen" directed by John Guillermin.

Drachenburg Castle is a castle on the Drachenfels in Koenigswinter. It was built in record time from 1882 to 1884 in the style of historicism (especially neo-early gothic on the exterior and neo-renaissance in the interior) as a representative residence for Stephan von Sarter, who, however, never lived in the castle. After his death, the castle was subjected to several changes in use.
