June 28, 2025, Orzeł District Headquarters Bunkers in Kraski Forest

As a result of a tip-off by an UB agent, pseudonym "Zadrożny", on June 25, 1948, the KBW and UB managed to establish the main headquarters of the "Orzeł" District Command, which was located in the Kraski forest in the village of Gleba. The District HQ bunkers were surrounded. Over 50 platoons of the 1st and 2nd KBW Brigades, i.e. over 1,500 soldiers, 4 aircraft and artillery, took part in the action against a group of partisans consisting of a dozen or so people. After a day-long fight and an unsuccessful attempt to break through, the partisan defense was broken (four were killed, nine - including 2 wounded - and two women and a child fell into the hands of the communists). The wounded Józef Kozłowski was transported to Warsaw, where he underwent a difficult investigation, after which he was sentenced to death.

On March 9, 1863, one of the key battles of the January Uprising took place near Myszyniec, in which Kurpie troops under the command of Zygmunt Padlewski clashed with superior Russian forces. Although it ended with a tactical retreat of the insurgents, it became a symbol of Kurpie courage and an inspiration for later patriotic literature. During the six-hour battle, despite a significant disproportion of forces, the insurgents managed to inflict serious losses on the Tsarist troops, estimated at around 100 dead on the Russian side. The personal example of the commander played a key role, whose white sheepskin coat riddled with bullets became a legendary element of Kurpie iconography of the fight for independence. source: https://historykon.pl/9-marca-1863-rozegrala-sie-bitwa-pod-myszyncem/

The church delights with its beauty and rich interior. The pearl of the Kurpie land, a monument to the faith of the inhabitants of Myszyniec and the surrounding area - these are the opinions of those who have visited the Myszyniec basilica. A beautiful monument, proudly towering over the area, is the true pride of the entire Mazovia.

The Minor Basilica in Myszyniec is one of the most valuable monuments in Mazovia. There are many magnificent temples in the Mazovian province, but this church in the heart of Kurpie, called the "Kurpie cathedral", is an absolute phenomenon that is worth highlighting in a special way - and of course going to see it live. The Minor Basilica in Myszyniec is the largest temple in the Kurpie region, a valuable Mazovian monument, inspiring admiration due to its values - not only aesthetic, but also historical. The church in Myszyniec was built in the years 1909-1922 according to the design of Franciszek Przecławski, an architect and engineer from Łomża. The construction of the church, which currently stands in Myszyniec, began on July 11, 1909, when the cornerstone was laid. - The new temple will be one of the largest in the country, because it is to be 105 cubits long, and it will be built on the model of the church of St. Floryana in Praga - it was written in "Dziennik Powszechny". The construction of the church aroused considerable interest in the media, which wrote, among other things, that the construction was personally supervised by the then parish priest, Fr. Franciszek Karwacki. This is how the church towering over Myszyniec and the entire Kurpie region was created. The dimensions of this building are 61 meters long, 30 meters wide, 18 meters high to the vault and 50-meter towers. The brick, five-nave hall with a two-tower facade makes a huge impression. The architecture of this temple took care of Kurpie motifs, so close to the local population. https://www.eostroleka.pl/bazylika-mniejsza-w-myszyncu---sakralna-wizytowka-mazowsza,art106013.html

In 1999, the church was elevated to the dignity of a collegiate church. On March 30, 1981, the church was entered in the register of monuments [3]. In 2013, Pope Francis elevated the temple to the dignity of a minor basilica [4]. By the decree of the Bishop of Łomża, Janusz Stepnowski on February 9, 2021, the basilica was established as one of the 20 station churches of the Pontifical Year of St. Józef in the diocese of Łomża

Collegiate Basilica of the Holy Trinity - a Roman Catholic parish church in the Łomża diocese, belonging to the Myszyniec deanery, of which it is the seat. It is a neo-Gothic five-aisle hall church built in 1909–1922 according to a design by Franciszek Przecławski [1]. Old feretrons and two side altars from the 18th century have been preserved. Next to it there is a brick belfry from the 18th century, the oldest brick building in the Zielona Forest [2]. At the entrance to the church, there are two iron martens (collars) in which criminals were locked.
