Full name of the monument: "To those who gave their lives to Poland 1939-1989". The monument was rebuilt after the end of the socialist system in Poland, supplementing the brick base with a stylized sculpture made of metal and expanding the list of victims to include the period of the so-called People's Republic of Poland. During this period (1944-1989), the socialist authorities proclaimed slogans of progress, equal rights, and the power of the working people of cities and villages, and quietly tortured and murdered their opponents who did not agree to the subordination of Poland to the Soviet Union, deprivation of private property, and harassment of the Church. To the right of the old church and much further from the road, a new church was built. Comparing both buildings provides an opportunity to reflect on the change in the style of religious architecture in Poland that has taken place over the last hundred years. WW
