The fort was built in 1882-1886 as a single-rampart artillery fort with a pentagonal outline. In the neck part there were concrete barracks, and behind them two ammunition magazines. On the ramparts there were two artillery positions separated by crossbars. The fort's moat was defended with three caponiers, which increased its defensive capabilities.

Initially, it was a Gothic cathedral. Its construction began in 1452. A wall armed with cannons was built around it for fear of invasions by the Vlachs and Tatars. In the 18th century it was rebuilt in the Baroque style.

Not far from the old town, on the bank of the San River, there is a royal castle built in the Gothic style by Casimir the Great on the site of an earlier wooden stronghold. Burned by the Vlachs in 1498, in the first half of the 16th century it was rebuilt by the staroste of Przemyśl, Piotr Kmita, as a bastion castle in the Renaissance style. The gate, towers with an attic, some rooms and fragments of curtains have been preserved. Currently, it houses Fredreum - the oldest amateur theater in Poland (founded in 1869). The Przełom Hołubli nature reserve is located in the Przemyśl Foothills Landscape Park. The reserve was established in 1996 in order to preserve, for scientific, educational and landscape reasons, a picturesque fragment of the gorge valley of the Hołubla stream and an oak-beech forest with a linden tree. There are two nature trails within the reserve and the so-called "Forest Classrooms" - educational places with shelters and benches.
