The old wooden church currently serves as a funeral chapel – in the front of the church is a glass-walled cold room into which the coffin containing the body is placed. Conservation work is underway inside and outside the church. Two plane trees grow behind the church. The new church, built of brick and in the shape of a cross, is impressive in its walls and roof height, considering the relatively small town of Besko (population 4,000). This isn't visible in close-up photos, but can be seen from a distance: the ridges of the four roofs, meeting in the center of the building, are not horizontal but slope downward toward the center, where a concrete turret—a bell tower—protrudes from the roof. One might get the impression that the bell tower was so heavy that it caused the roof structure to collapse. WW The Wooden Parish Church of St. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built in 1755 and rebuilt in 1925, and the classicist bell tower dates from 1841. (Wikipedia)

According to the plan, on April 19, 2024, the pedestrian and vehicle footbridge over the Wisłok River was officially opened for use. The total cost of building this facility is PLN 4,606,648.64. (...) The new crossing connects two parts of Besko divided by the Wisłok River and will serve the residents of the commune moving on foot, on two-wheelers or by passenger cars to school, library, church, cultural center, nursery, sports facilities, commune and post offices, police station, shops or their own homes. It significantly shortens the route to the above-mentioned facilities and, most importantly, directs local pedestrian and car traffic away from the busy and dangerous national road no. 28. (...) The order fulfillment time for two 32 cm pizzas and three teas was... 7 minutes! I don't know of any other pizzeria in the area where the wait is as short. The dough is made on the spot, not taken out of the freezer - as I suspected. The waitress explained to me that the dough goes into the oven for 3 minutes. The oven, dough and opening hours can be seen in the photo. We recommend it! 😀

The square is nicely lit at night, as if from below. Small architecture, benches, monument. In the summer season, next to the square there is an open ice cream stand from the Jagusia confectionery from Krosno. Scoop PLN 6.50, approx. 10 flavors. I recommend mascarpone with raspberry and coffee with walnut. 😀 Behind the square, on the same side of the road, there is an Orthodox church on a hill. Closer to the Wisłok River, on the other side of the main street (DK28), there is a sports and bicycle shop. Hiking tourists who do not have cars can reach Besko by Kubuś buses serving the Krosno - Zarszyn - Sanok route. WW

Author of the mural: Rock Art Studio. People born in the 1960s and 1970s do not need to be explained what vehicles are immortalized in this image. Younger children may have trouble identifying, especially a white car. This is Syrena 105 - the fruit of the Polish technical thought of the communist era. Mermaids were produced in 1957-83. It is difficult for young people to imagine it today, but in the 1960s hardly anyone had a car in county towns. In my place of origin, a private car was owned by a veterinarian and two rich residents who made their money in America and then built it in Poland. A lot more people had motorcycles. It was only in Edward Gierek's decade, i.e. the 1970s, that car ownership became common among Poles, and with it the possibility of going on vacation without standing in horribly crowded trains was associated with it. The second car is the popular Maluch, i.e. Polski Fiat 126p (produced in 1972-2000). More about Syrena: https://pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FSO_Syrena

During the communist era, the market square in Rymanów served as a junction stop, where numerous blue PKS buses stopped. It was not a passenger friendly place as it is located on a hill that dominates the area and is very windy. Waiting for a call on a cold day could pay with your health. Currently, local transport is dominated by buses and it is difficult to find your way in the multitude of names of carriers and routes. The main burden of passenger transport has shifted from public transport to private cars. This is best seen during summer weekends, when flocks of cars pass through the Rymanów market. It is not easy to turn towards Rymanów Zdrój, and in the evening join DK28 Krosno - Sanok from that side. The queue of waiting vehicles reaches as far as the church. When traveling by bike, it is worth stopping in the shade of park trees next to the fountain, and during the greatest heat, look for refreshment in the silence of the church.

The present temple (...) in the neo-gothic style was built in the years 1882-1886 in place of the old wooden church. (...) During the First and Second World War, the front line passed through Bukowsko, but the temple itself survived. It was not until 1946 that the UPA bands burned down the whole of Bukowsko, only the church and a few houses survived. After the burning, some of the inhabitants returned and some left to the west. (...) The interior polychrome made in tempera by the painter Leonard Winturowski from Krakow comes from 1911 and was renovated in 1982-1983 by Kazimierz Florek from Sanok. On the so-called On the rainbow under the vault there is a large painting of the Queen of the Polish Crown receiving homage from Polish saints and representatives of Polish society. Above the main entrance, on the outer pediment, there is a statue of Our Lady made of cast iron, imported in 1903 from Paris. Source and more: http://www.bukowsko.przemyska.pl/?page_id=43
