The Ruda Nature Reserve is a small but valuable protected area in the upper Rospuda River valley, near the town of Kotowina. Established in 2007, it encompasses over 3 hectares of wet meadows and a fragment of riparian forest. This area is distinguished by its rich herbaceous and shrubby flora, as well as the diversity of fauna associated with the river valley. The reserve is peaceful and rarely visited, making it a good place to rest during a cycling trip in the Suwałki Region. It's worth remembering that leaving the trails and interfering with nature is prohibited.

Very nice walking and cycling path around Lake Olecko Wielkie. There are several places for sunbathing and camping. Very few catering points. In places the path is a bit narrow, which makes passing each other difficult. Almost the entire length of the route we ride on a hardened dirt surface, there is little gravel and paving stones.

One of the few places on Lake Olecko Wielkie where you can sunbathe.

A place to launch floating equipment. Right next to it is a small marina where you can eat and drink something.

We drive down to the lake from Kościuszki Street, but be careful, there is no marking here, so you have to be careful and look at your surroundings. We start driving on a gravel path and it is basically like that all the way around the lake.

Right next to the gravel road we come across a small bay. In my opinion it is more suitable for launching boats than camping, but that is just my opinion.

View of Lake Olecko Małe in the village of Małe Olecko. An asphalt road runs through the village, but if you continue towards Olecko along the lake, as soon as you pass the village, you will see a gravel road with a washboard on it, and so on for about 4 km.
