Neoclassical palace from the 19th century, once the home of the Grabski family - the owner of the now defunct Gniezno Sugar Factory, established in 1882 on the site of the former Balcerowo Folwark. The Grabski family lived in the palace until 1939 (after the outbreak of World War II they were displaced and moved to Warsaw). Currently, the renovated building and its surroundings function as the Balcerowo Palace. (naprzekordniom.wordpress.com, balcerowo.pietrak.pl)

The unveiling took place on 11 September 1967. The ceremony was attended by members of the Gniezno structures of the Union of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy, who were responsible for erecting the monument. It commemorates eight Poles shot by the Germans on 8 December 1939. Originally, the place was marked by the local population with a cross cut out of a nearby tree. /gniezno.eu/
