The city walls in Barlinek are one of the most valuable monuments of the city, dating back to the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Once, their length exceeded 1,700 meters, and the defensive system was complemented by towers, a moat and earthen ramparts. A natural barrier protecting the city was also the nearby Lake Barlineckie. Today, fragments of the walls can be admired during a walk or a bike ride around the center of Barlinek. It is an interesting stop for lovers of history and atmospheric towns.

At the beginning. In the 19th century, a new one was built on the site of the former town hall, but it burned down in 1827, set on fire by the then court usher, Ernst Gottlieb Richter, who wanted to cover up the murder of the municipal servant Schulz and his wife. In the years 1828-1829, the burned town hall was rebuilt and also used as the seat of the municipal court. In 1844, a tower with a clock was added to the town hall roof. In the 1930s, to celebrate the anniversary of the "Lipia Liquor Law", a fountain was placed on the side façade.

The main market square of the oldest part of the city. In the 14th century, the first town hall building was erected in the middle of the square. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, the old town hall was demolished, and a new neoclassical town hall was built in its place. The northwestern frontage and the building on the corner of the market square and Adama Mickiewicza Street in the southeastern frontage have not survived to the present day. Since 1816, a natural monument – the Oak of Peace, also known as the Brewers' Oak, has been growing in front of the town hall, as the city was famous for its beer production.
