This chapel, which stands on the top of a huge basalt rock, is a relic from the 16th century. For a long time it housed a statue of Sao Pedro. The Ermida de São Pedro is a small chapel that sits idyllically on a hill overlooking the sea.

The Monastery of Santo André or Mosteiro de Santo André is located in Vila Franca do Campo. The property dates back to the 16th century. It once housed part of the group of nuns to whom Pope Paul III gave the image of the “ecce homo” in the 16th century, an image brought from the Caloura Monastery in Água de Pau and that became the reference element for one of the greatest religious festivals in the archipelago, that of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres. This image is currently located in the Nossa Senhora da Esperança Monastery in Ponta Delgada.
