The boardwalks, created with great effort by local craft businesses, cross the heath and the dunes and lead to the beach, to the viewing dunes and to the viewpoints. The wooden planks of the boardwalks are replaced with new ones after a few years. In some cases, individual sections are then relaid, and the old post foundations are still visible. 🌿 Wonderful to experience the remarkable nature like this 🍃👌🏼.

🌊💙The freshwater lake Wriakhörn lies directly in the dunes between Wittdün and the lighthouse❤️. A boardwalk leads around the lake to Kniepsand🤍. Information boards provide information about flora and fauna🍃🌿- Resting places invite you to linger. Here you can observe resting sea and shore birds and enjoy the fresh breeze from the nearby North Sea🌊💙.

🏖Amrum's perhaps biggest attraction is Kniepsand🤍, a fine-sand beach, about 15 km long and up to 2 km wide. Formerly a sandbank that, over time, moved closer to the island - and finally united with it🏖. 🎨🖌A wonderful natural highlight, sand so fine... as white as flour 🤍.

Please stay on the paths, because dune protection is island protection

This beautiful, unique freshwater biotope lies in the heart of the Amrum dunes. It was created by the natural growth of a dune embankment. This was then artificially extended, gradually filling it with rainwater and rising groundwater. The lake and its surrounding area are an important resting and breeding ground for countless water birds.

Greetings from the Lüneburg Heath, but we're here on the North Sea island of Amrum. Simply stunningly beautiful during the flowering season in August/September.

Anyone who has made it this far will need just as much time to walk through the Kniepsand to reach the water.
