Blue Pool

Highlight • Natural Monument

It is a very varied hike that is a lot of fun! In between there are always rocky passages and the absolute highlight is of course Poço Azul - make sure you bring your swimsuit!

If the parking spaces are occupied you can follow the hiking trail over the small bridge. In the following bend there is another parking lot.

Fecha de Barjas Waterfall (Tahiti)

Highlight • Waterfall

Very nice waterfall with Badegumpen and bathing facilities. When descending, you should wear sturdy shoes if possible, as the descent is a bit steep in places, but it's really manageable. You will be rewarded with a totally great view and if you feel like swimming, it is a wonderful cooling off in the fresh water. A crackling waterfall shower is free! Just great.
The descent on the bridge side coming from Ermida only goes to the top of the waterfall, where there are also bathing pools.
On the way down on the other side of the bridge you walk a little longer, but all the way down where you can really swim.
Have fun!

Fantastic pools with waterfalls over 4 levels that are easy to reach with a bit of scrambling. Sturdy shoes with good soles are highly recommended. There are enough parking spaces on the street or in a paid parking lot. There are actually enough berths 😉

The old bridge with waterfall is one of the must-sees when traveling in northern Portugal. The Bridge of Mizarela (Portuguese: Ponte da Mizarela) is a medieval bridge that crosses the Rio Rabagão, between the municipality of Ruivães and the municipality of Ferral. It was built in the Middle Ages and reconstructed in the early 19th century. According to local legend, it was built by the devil himself.

Caniçada Dam

Highlight • Monument

The Caniçada Dam (Portuguese: Barragem da Caniçada) is located in the Northern region of Portugal in the Braga district near the municipality of Caniçada. It dams up the Cávado River and its tributary Rio Gerês to form a four-armed reservoir (port. Albufeira (da Barragem) da Caniçada). In the middle of the reservoir, near the point where the Rio Gerês originally flowed into the Rio Cávado, the lake is bridged by two bridges. To the north of the reservoir is the Peneda-Gerês National Park and part of the lake area belongs to the national park. The city of Braga is located about 15 km southwest of the Caniçada dam. Upstream, the next hydroelectric power station on the Cávado is the Salamonde dam.

Warning: This is an extremely dangerous location, with a significant risk of falling. Due to erosion, the rocks are extremely smooth, making them slippery even in dry weather.

The Misarela Bridge, also known as the Devil's Bridge or the Bridge of Hell (we'll explain why below), is one of the most interesting monuments in the North of Portugal. Whether because of the legends, its historical importance or the beautiful landscape in which it is located. The Misarela Bridge is a trestle bridge over a slightly pointed arch, 13 metres high. This was originally a medieval bridge, which was rebuilt in the early 19th century (before the French Invasions) and which gave rise to two famous popular legends and ancient rituals. It has been a property of public interest since 1957 and in this article we will explore all of this, as well as the best ways to get there.

Impressive waterfalls with several swimming pools that can be reached with a little climbing. Some climbing aids were anchored in the rock. Since the waterfall is close to a road, you are rarely alone here. And there have been deaths here because the climb down to the lagoons is not without danger.
