This church is in fact the legacy left by the incomparable Seitz Charterhouse in the hidden valley of St. John the Baptist. It is the so-called Ecclesia minor or lower church of this monumental monastery, which served the needs of the lay brothers. Built around 1190, it is considered one of the most important monuments of the late Romanesque period.

The Carthusian monastery in Seitz was founded in the 12th century. Some buildings are still preserved or accessible as ruins. In the monastery there is a well prepared museum. With audio guides you can learn a lot of interesting facts. Overall, a very impressive complex, which in many ways is reminiscent of the ancestral monastery of La Grande Chartreuse in France. In the monastery there is a herbal pharmacy where you can buy all kinds of medicines, ointments, elixirs and spirits. A really mystical place - an unconditional recommendation. You should bring some time and peace to enjoy the place.
