Definitely worth the round trip to take the McKenzie Pass. There is a vault toilet here that is very well maintained. There are stairs but also an accessible gradual path to the lower part of the observatory. The extra lava tour path is also fully paved and accessible.

Very easy hike that goes under the highway and back up north to where the falls actually are, compared to the viewpoint park.

The Deschutes River cuts through the high desert here and creates a green ribbon along the riparian area along it's banks. You can stop here and walk down to the river to cool down, or hike a short distance north to Cline Falls.

This is a great coffee shop in the heart of Sisters that feels like it could only exist in this small Central Oregon town. The coffee is great and they offer a good selection of breakfast items like pastries, breakfast burritos, and bagels. Be prepared to wait during busy morning especially on holidays and weekends.
