The Freedom Trail was built on an unused section of railroad to connect the people of Kent and Akron. Along the way you'll pass through parks, along rivers and lakes, and have a good chance at spotting some wildlife.

This area has a rich history with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, which established its base here in the early 1900s to produce coatings for aircraft. During the First and Second World Wars, it was an active airship base. After the wars, operations continued as they were before the wars. Today, you can enjoy views of the lake and the Goodyear Blimp, and even play some putt-putt golf in this park.

Wingfoot Lake gained fame from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s Wingfoot Lake Airship Base, built in the early 1900s. From this spot, you'll have a great view of the water and the Goodyear Blimp, as this is the place it launched from.
