January 21, 2025, King Powder Company and Peters Cartridge Company Factories

This section of the trail passes by some striking remnants of the region's industrial past: the former King Powder Company and Peters Cartridge Company factories. These historic buildings have been revitalized and now house Cartridge Brewing Co. and the Peters Cartridge Factory Apartments.

The Little Miami Scenic Trail is the longest trail in the Miami Valley Trails network. This 78-mile, paved trail offers a well-shaded route across old railroad bridges and through forests and towns. Along the way, you can access John Bryan and Caesar Creek State Parks. A must-see stop is Xenia Station, the junction of four trails in Xenia, Ohio. Further south, the trail winds alongside the Little Miami River, leading to the Ft. Ancient State Historic Site.

This section of the Little Miami Scenic Trail runs through the heart of the city of Loveland. This city is practically built around the bike trail, and all along this stretch you will find great places for food, beer, and outdoor music in the summer. Montgomery Cyclery is located just 50 feet off the trail, so if you need to have anything fixed this is your last stop for quite a while.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many running routes are available in Lebanon?

Komoot offers nearly 20 dedicated jogging routes across Lebanon. These routes vary in difficulty, with 15 moderate and 3 difficult options, providing diverse experiences for runners.

Are there easy or beginner-friendly running routes in Lebanon?

Yes, there is at least one easy jogging route listed on komoot. Additionally, many of the moderate routes, such as the Running loop from South Lebanon (6.7 km), offer relatively gentle terrain suitable for beginners. The Mseilha Walkway, mentioned in regional research, is also noted as accessible for beginner hikers, which can translate to easier runs.

What are some challenging running trails in Lebanon?

For those seeking a challenge, komoot lists 3 difficult jogging routes. The longest and most challenging is the Running loop from Countryside Church of the Nazarene, spanning over 20 km with significant elevation changes. The rugged terrain of the Qadisha Valley also offers demanding conditions for adventurous runners.

Can I find long-distance running routes in Lebanon?

Absolutely. The Running loop from Countryside Church of the Nazarene is the longest route available on komoot, covering approximately 20.9 km. Other routes like the Running loop from Foster and the Little Miami Scenic Trail loop from Kings Mills both offer substantial distances of around 14.7 km.

Are there any scenic coastal running paths in Lebanon?

Yes, Lebanon's Mediterranean coastline offers beautiful seaside routes. The Beirut Corniche is a signature running spot, stretching nearly 5 km with refreshing sea breezes and iconic views of the Raouche Rocks. The Dbayeh Marina, north of Beirut, also provides a pleasant waterfront running experience.

Are there running routes suitable for families with children?

While specific 'family-friendly' routes aren't explicitly tagged, routes with moderate difficulty and shorter distances, such as the Running loop from South Lebanon (6.7 km), could be suitable. Urban green spaces like Horsh Beirut Park offer contained, safe environments for family runs. The Mseilha Walkway is also noted as accessible for beginners, which can be good for families.

Are there dog-friendly jogging trails in Lebanon?

Many natural trails and open spaces in Lebanon are generally dog-friendly, though it's always best to check local regulations for specific parks or protected areas. The more rural routes and less crowded sections of coastal paths are often suitable for running with dogs, provided they are kept on a leash and waste is properly disposed of.

Where can I find urban green spaces for running in Beirut?

In Beirut, Horsh Beirut Park is the city's largest green space, offering a welcome escape from urban congestion with a perimeter of approximately 2 km and additional inner pathways. It's an ideal location for those seeking fresh air and greenery within the city.

What kind of natural landscapes can I expect to see while jogging in Lebanon?

Lebanon offers a diverse range of natural landscapes for runners. You can experience dramatic mountain vistas in regions like the Qadisha Valley, ancient forests such as the Cedars of God, tranquil lakes like Akoura Lake, and impressive waterfalls like Baatara Gorge. Coastal routes provide refreshing sea views, while pine forests offer shaded trails.

Are there loop running routes available in Lebanon?

Yes, many of the jogging routes in Lebanon are designed as loops, offering a convenient way to start and finish in the same location. Examples include the popular Running loop from Foster, the Running loop from South Lebanon, and the Landen Mounds I and II loop from Landen.

What is the best time of year to go jogging in Lebanon?

The best time for jogging in Lebanon depends on the region. Spring and autumn generally offer pleasant temperatures across the country. During warmer summer months, coastal routes like the Beirut Corniche provide refreshing sea breezes, while higher altitude areas and shaded forest trails (e.g., pine forests) offer cooler conditions. Winters can be cold, especially in mountainous regions, but coastal areas remain milder.

Are there running routes with waterfalls or lakes nearby?

Yes, Lebanon's natural beauty includes stunning water features. While not directly on a komoot jogging route, the country is home to impressive waterfalls like the Baatara Gorge Waterfall and serene lakes such as Akoura Lake and Oyoun Orghosh Lakes. The Ouyon El Samak area also features breathtaking waterfalls and a lake, offering picturesque backdrops for outdoor activities that could be combined with a run.

Is parking available near popular jogging spots in Lebanon?

Parking availability varies by location. For urban spots like the Beirut Corniche or Dbayeh Marina, street parking or nearby paid lots are generally available, though they can be busy. For more rural or trail-based routes, designated parking areas might be present at trailheads. It's advisable to check specific location details before heading out.

How can I access jogging routes using public transport in Lebanon?

Public transport options in Lebanon, particularly outside major cities, can be limited. Within Beirut, local buses or shared taxis might provide access to urban running spots like the Corniche or Horsh Beirut. For routes in more remote natural areas, personal vehicles are often the most convenient option. It's recommended to research specific public transport routes to your desired trailhead in advance.
