Running through the actual gardens probably isn't the best idea, but you can still see some of the features of the gardens from the road loop. There are a few trails that go through the garden-section of the property.

South Park Lake is located next to the South Park Arboretum and the golf course. You actually cross over a narrow section of the lake when running the road that goes around the property. There are usually a bunch of different birds on and near the waters.
