The Artpark Gorge Trail offers a captivating journey along the Niagara River, showcasing its striking blue-green waters and dramatic gorge. You'll traverse varied terrain, from gravel and dirt paths to stone steps and even sections requiring climbing over large boulders. Keep an eye out for picturesque waterfalls and fascinating fossils embedded in the rocks as you explore this scenic route, which is part of the larger Niagara Gorge Trail System. It's a dynamic experience that blends natural beauty with a sense of adventure.
Planning your visit to the Artpark Gorge Trail is generally easy, with accessible parking at the Upper Level Parking Lot. However, be mindful of seasonal conditions; winter hikes often require microspikes due to ice, and recent rockfalls mean you should always be aware of your surroundings. The trail is especially popular in the fall for its vibrant leaf peeping opportunities, so consider visiting during that time for an extra visual treat.
This trail is notable for its unique geological history, as Artpark is located where the Niagara River's banks increase 200 feet in elevation, marking where the brink of Niagara Falls once stood almost 13,000 years ago. Beyond its natural allure, Artpark is also known for its performing and visual arts programs, including interactive public art installations that you can enjoy year-round. It's an easy 2.6-mile (4.3 km) hike with 214 feet (65 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking about 1 hour and 9 minutes, making it a great option for a quick, high-reward outing.

Great views and a lovely place to relax and fish. I met a few people fishing from the platforms, and the water reaches the bottom of the stairs near the parking lot. There are a lot of stairs here, so take your time and hold onto your little ones and your phones while taking photos on the platforms. In some places, the railings are so wide that your phone could fall through. There's also an elevator to take you there and back if you can't manage the stairs.

This place is simply fantastic. We loved it. The trails were a bit challenging, but it was a great experience. It's usually quiet here during the week. There's ample parking, so parking isn't a problem. The public restrooms were very clean. Don't forget to click on the map image, as it can be confusing otherwise. I don't recommend going with children, as the trails are very rocky and would be difficult for children. If you enjoy hiking and want to experience nature up close, this place is ideal. An absolute must for anyone looking for an adventurous hike.

A unique landscape. The trail can be a bit challenging, so be sure to bring water and sturdy shoes. A fantastic hike.
