December 8, 2023, Lake Auburn

Lake Auburn, with a 4-mile shoreline, is a favorable location for fishing for minnow, sunfish, and white sucker fish. Swimming is prohibited, and domestic animals are not allowed to wade in the lake. This lake, like several others in the area, tends to freeze over in winter, but ice fishing is not allowed.

Chickadee Landing is a bird feeding station with benches to sit on within a few feet of the feeders. If you sit down on one of the benches and remain still for just a few minutes, you will be rewarded with a close-up view of the feeding birds. Today I saw a White-breasted Nuthatch and an American Tree Sparrow as well as numerous Black-capped Chickadees.
