This trail is an excellent paved scenic route, ideal for walking, running or biking. Along the way are beautiful views of the lake, which is also a great place to stop and take a nice break. In the springtime, water is often running over the trail, so plan to get a little wet.

The Old North Bridge is located in in Concord, Massachusetts, and is a historic site central to the American Revolution. It was here, on April 19, 1775, that colonial militia faced British soldiers in one of the first battles of the war and is now a part of the Minute Man National Historical Park. Visitors can walk across the bridge, explore nearby trails, and view the iconic Minuteman Statue. There are also interpretive plaques and regular guided tours.

While less popular than the intersecting Strawberry Hill Road, Pope Road is still a great spot to ride in the Acton-Concord Area and connects Great Road to Lowell Road. There are a few bumpy, potholed sections on this segment of road, so be aware as you ride.

Heart Pond is a freshwater kettle pond in Chelmsford, but borders the town of Westford. This is a popular swimming spot in the summer and a great place to pause as you ride along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. You can access the swimming beach on the northeastern side of the pond right from the Rail Trail where there are porta-potties you can use.
