Unfortunately, our time window did not allow for a visit to the museum this time, but the freely accessible building, where you wander through different eras, greatly impressed us and we were amazed at how much trust people place in visitors here, all objects were displayed without protection.

The beautiful beach is located directly on the small road (no parking). The water is shallow and also suitable for small children.

On the Broagerland peninsula, more precisely on the Iller Strand, the "Gendarmstien (Gendarm Path)" runs for a while together with the "Teglværksstien (Brickworks Path)". Here you will find information boards that point out the traces (ovens, kneading mills, dilapidated loading areas, overgrown clay pits) of the disappeared brickworks. There were once eight brickworks on the Iller Strand. This brickworks, the Catherinesminde ring kiln brickworks, was in operation for 236 years, until 1968, and is the only one to have survived here. It is one of the most important Danish industrial monuments and gives an interesting insight into the history of brickworks. There were a total of 70 brickworks on the Danish shore of the Flensburg Fjord. Large quantities of red and yellow bricks were produced here until 1968. The drying barns of Catherinesminde look impressive in their length, even when viewed from Gendarmstien. Unfortunately, I had not planned a visit and due to time constraints, it was no longer possible spontaneously. I regret that, but perhaps I will get the opportunity to make up for a visit with more detailed observations. In Egernsund, on the Flensburg Fjord, stands this beautiful sailor's church from 1909. As the red color suggests, it was built from local stone. The altar table is made of bricks. The altar figures were carved in Tyrol. On the day I looked around there, it was pleasantly quiet. A contemplative atmosphere. I also liked the handle of the church door (see photo gallery here). :-) In the church hangs a model of a five-master. It is the "København", which disappeared without a trace in 1928 on its voyage from Buenos Aires to Australia.
