The best road cycling routes around Warren Park

Greenfield was designated as the county seat on April 11, 1828. Hancock County, established on March 1, 1828, and was named after John Hancock, the first signer of the Declaration of Independence. Initially, the county had a population of about 400 people. By the 2020 census, the population of just Greenfield has grown to 23,488.

West 300 South road is a serene neighborhood route, lined with homes and cornfields. This lush green, asphalt road has some cracks, so cyclists should ride carefully. Since there's no shoulder for most of its length, you'll need to share the road with vehicles.

The Pennsy Trail, a 14.5-mile paved path, traces the old Pennsylvania Railroad route alongside the historic Old National Road. This Indiana trail stretches from Richmond to Indianapolis and was historically significant for transporting President Lincoln's body in 1865. Ideal for biking, the trail is divided into two main sections. The western portion runs through Indianapolis' Irvington area, connecting a local school, Ellenberger Park, and the Pleasant Run Trail, via a wide sidewalk along Ritter Avenue.

The mile-long Mass Avenue is a cultural district in Indianapolis that features restaurants, galleries and boutiques. The Cultural Trail Runs through and along this rejuvenated neighbourhood.

Charlevoix Lake is a man-made water runoff lake around which are a number of homes with direct access to the water. Just over the road from the lake is the Fall Creek Parking area. There are a number of walking, running and cycling trails from here through the woods along Fall Creek.

Right next to the parking area, at this point you can begin the Lawrence Creek Trail. This trail forms a circular route through this beautiful nature preserve, allowing you to explore the botanically-rich Lawrence Creek drainage area. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to identify some of the animals living here, including a variety of birds native to Indiana.

Built in the late 19th century, although with later modifications, this beautiful bridge over Fall Creek has been maintained and preserved for the community's use. It features an uncommon Double-Warren truss main span. Right here, the USBR 35 route and the Fall Creek Parkway Trail intersect.

If you're in the area or circling the lake, this is an ideal spot to make a brief stop, enjoying the tranquility and the lake views. In addition to having a snack or lunch at one of its picnic tables, you can also observe the local wildlife. It's located right next to the Harrison Trace Trail.
