From 1879, he managed the Royal Bavarian Forestry Administration and initiated the founding of the Bavarian State Institute for Forestry and Forest Management (LWF) in Freising in 1881. Career: From 1859 to 1873, he managed the forestry district in Welden, where he had the August Ganghofer Avenue, named after him today, planted. He was elevated to the personal nobility in 1887.
