The Vista View Park – State Road 84 loop offers a unique road cycling experience in South Florida, blending the region's typically flat terrain with surprising elevation changes. You'll navigate the rare green rolling hills and meadows of Vista View Park, a repurposed landfill that now provides genuine climbs and descents, before transitioning to the smooth, straight stretches of State Road 84. This moderate 32.8-mile (52.8 km) route, with its 78 feet (24 metres) of elevation gain, is a fantastic way to get a diverse workout in about 2 hours and 2 minutes, offering panoramic views from the park's summit.

To make the most of your ride, consider starting your journey from Weston Road/South New River Circle. Parking is generally available, but Vista View Park can get busy, so an early start is often a good idea. Given the South Florida climate, always bring ample water, especially during warmer months. The route is accessible throughout the year, but the cooler, drier season from late fall to spring provides the most comfortable riding conditions.

What truly sets this route apart is the inclusion of Vista View Park, which stands out dramatically in the notoriously flat South Florida landscape. Its man-made hills provide a unique training ground for cyclists seeking elevation without leaving the urban centers, making it a popular spot for competitive riders and those looking for a challenging cardio workout. Combining these rare hills with the flat, fast sections of State Road 84 creates a diverse and engaging road cycling experience.

Believe it or not Vista View Park, just to your north, used to be a landfill. Now the roughly 270-acre open space is a lovely green interlude, with the spacious views its name implies.
