These two hangars near the vast solar park are the most beautiful. The paved path runs between them, and you can even easily view the buildings from the inside. This is the perfect spot for taking some truly fantastic photos! Covered with earth, grass, and small trees, the former hangars are well camouflaged, though they probably weren't quite as overgrown back then as they are today. It's a chilling thought that Russian bombers once stood here, ready to be equipped with nuclear missiles at any time. The missiles themselves were most likely stored elsewhere, but still. It's well worth continuing along the path a little further on foot or by bike, because just around the bend, there's a longer stretch of broom bushes. When they're in bloom, it's a truly magnificent sight, with the attractive pine forest as a backdrop. It's also possible, and even recommended, to take the branching forest path, as shown on this tour, because it leads directly to Groß Dölln. It is not only pine trees that grow there; rather, the mixed forest with larger stands of beech and oak trees offers an exceptionally charming sight.

The Kleine Vätersee is a small forest lake which shows strong, clearly visible signs of silting.

A local told me a very exciting story. Back in the 1980s, the long runway was significantly reinforced so that it could be used as an alternative emergency landing strip for the Buran ("Russian space shuttle"). Otherwise, it should be noted that Groß Dölln was supposed to have been the largest military airfield in the GDR.

The sign with the legend in Low and High German hangs in the shelter. It's pretty lonely here.

As far as I know there is no access to the lake.

Spooky atmosphere here.. totally quiet and peaceful in the middle of the forest, but the idea of what fighting machines stood here a few decades ago.. crazy!

Now it's sad, the sign with the legend. Nevertheless, it is nice and quiet here.
