For trips in the direction of the current, you just stow the paddle in the kayak and let yourself drift. On the way back (i.e. against the current), the kayak is towed from the footpath. ⚠️ the footpath is sometimes underwater - then you have to take off your shoes. It can get slippery due to algae. You should also be careful not to leave any sharp objects lying around.

It's very difficult for paddlers to portage here. There's no trolley. We portaged the boat and placed it in the overflow channel below the weir. However, it was very difficult to reach and arduous.

The Stechlinsee Loop is currently closed due to a bridge closure near the former Rheinsberg power plant. Therefore, you must choose a suitable path, hiking counterclockwise, either along the water or through the forest above the lake.

Someone here really went to the trouble of decorating a tree stump instead of removing it. Very refreshing 😍

Paddlers are allowed to pass the motorboats and park at the lock entrance. The lock operator will then signal when they are permitted to enter.

Here, they've put a lot of effort into decorating an old tree stump. It's a bit kitschy, perhaps, but also somehow ingenious. It's worth a look 😄
