You'll never forget this moment: every hiker is greeted with applause from the hikers on the terrace! The desert section is now officially over and you deserve the burger! Here you can: pick up your resupply package, shop, eat, drink, weigh your backpack, there is free internet and a hiker box. I hitchhiked the two miles down to Grumpy's and stayed two nights as the plumbing here wasn't working properly. There are huge pancakes, outdoor showers and the possibility to do laundry. You can also get the famous PCT bandana here at Triple Crown Outfitters - free if you've hiked by then!

When you have left the seemingly long path from the last high point behind you, a huge valley with steppe and boulders opens up. First glimpse of the High Sierra in the distance. Still no network, but a wonderful camping spot! Attention: in mid-June it was suddenly below 0 degrees Celsius at night.
