„Combining the useful with the beautiful“ was the motto of Prince Franz of Anhalt-Dessau, which also included flood protection on the Elbe and Mulde. Thus, from 1770 to 1800, numerous watch houses were built along the dikes of the Garden Kingdom. These actual functional buildings were integrated into the beautification of the landscape through very different external forms. Among them is also the so-called „Limesturm“ in the style of a Roman watchtower. On the map of the Ducal Anhalt Dessau Offices from 1817 and 1818, it is marked as a High Watch House.

An artificial ruin has been built here based on an Italian model of a nymphaeum. The furthest corner of the park, a beautiful corner with Stein Island and Villa Hamilton.
