Schlüttsiel is not only a ferry port, but also a great place for a break. There is a beautiful meadow with many benches with a great view of the North Sea. There is also a bathing area here.

Schlüttsiel belongs to the municipality of Ockholm and is located on the Hauke-Haien Koog. It is just a port that was built in 1959. The port was named after the sluice. The ferry port of Schlüttsiel is one or perhaps even the starting point for boat connections that lead to the Halligen.

Schlüttsiel is a small ferry port on the North Sea in North Friesland. The Hallig ferry departs from here towards Hooge, Langeneß and Gröde. The Schlüttsiel ferry port was built in 1959 as part of the embankment of the Hauke-Haien-Koog. Before that, the old port, from which the ship connections to the Halligen existed, was in Bongsiel, about 3.5 km east of the current location. This facility was built in 1752. However, the port soon lost its importance because the access roads were very poorly developed. Schlüttsiel today consists primarily of the multi-storey ferry house directly on the outer embankment in the Koog, the handling facilities for the ferry on the harbor pier, the harbor basin, the sluice structure of the Bongsieler Canal that drains here and the Jordsand information center inside the Koog. The port is important primarily because of the ferry connections to the Halligen Langeneß and Hooge that dock here. https://de.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Schl%C3%BCttsiel

This really is an insider tip! Great view of the North Sea, super tasty, beautifully presented food, at normal prices. Great staff. Anyone who can employ people like that has a huge advantage over their competitors.
