On Sunday morning, August 6, 1944, the Těšín Gestapo surrounded Životice and launched a reprisal operation under the roof of a local tavern, which had taken place two days earlier. The result was that 36 men from Životice and the surrounding area were shot. In the following days, another 41 citizens were taken to concentration camps. Only four returned alive after the war.
