Tips from the Community

Alex Foxfield
June 5, 2026, Views across Lake Nisser

The long ascent of Hjasufsknatten from the southwest provides ample opportunity to admire the long ribbon of Lake Nisser and the surrounding uplands. From here, it's not far to the summit, which boasts a lovely cairn and a lodge that was once a military radio building.

This is one of two main routes to the apex of Hjasufknatten, the other being a steeper, more direct ascent from the lakeshore to the west of the summit. Steep at first, the gradients soon ease and you'll have ample opportunity to enjoy the views across Lake Nisser.

Rising to 802 meters (2,631 ft) above Lake Nisser, Hjasufsknatten is a superb objective. Two main routes converge on the summit, one from Vik to the southwest and a shorter but steeper pull up from the shores of Lake Nisser to the west. As well as the summit cairn, there's also a building constructed in the 1950s by NATO on the top that has been converted into a luxury cabin.
