The well-preserved town of Silver City sits at an elevation of 6,200 feet and it surrounded by the beautiful Owyhee Mountains. It is one of the few old mining towns that still exist today and it is not commercialized. Gold, silver and coppers was mined in the nearby Morningstar Mine. The many town buildings are in a remarkable condition. This might be the case since most of them are privately owned today. There are over 75 structures in Silver City that date from the 1860s to the early 1900's. The main building is the Idaho Hotel. If you want to spend more time here, there is a campground at the north end of the town.
