Here, northbound hikers are presented with an alternate: hiking north or south along the Florida Trail. The southern route follows Florida State Highway 100 through small towns and spans a little over 20 miles. The northern route stays wild, passing through Etoniah Creek State Forest, Belmore Wildlife Management, and the Old Head Branch State Park area and past Lowry Lake. This route is longer, spanning 37.2 miles.
