Tips from the Community

Mark
July 17, 2025, Slaithwaite Village and Canal

Take your time down this section as it can get quite busy with people, dog walkers, and cyclists. Some sections are newly laid tarmac but other areas are hardstanding compacted stone. The canal does narrow in parts but all ridable with caution at the locks.

Repairs to the cycle track started on 16th June 2025. Expected to last 3 months. There are signs in place to say the track is closed in places, however, I managed to complete my ride by taking minor detours. Just be aware different parts may be closed on different days.

Did some maintenance on it last night, moved branches, removed leaves and other loose material should be good to ride next time I go past :)

"Middle Aged Men In Lycra" lol. Coffee is great, very dog friendly and you can lock your bike inside. Well worth a visit
