In the search for a worthy patron saint for this church, the Archangel Michael was initially chosen, whose name (derived from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". However, it was then apparently decided that it wouldn't hurt to significantly increase the number of intercessors before God's throne for this church and its parishioners. Thus, the idea arose not to choose just a single patron saint, but to extend the patronage to the entire heavenly host (i.e., "All Angels").

"Dating from the eighteenth century this village pub of Cotswold Stone is perched on a bank overlooking a small green and war memorial. Located only one mile from the renowned Donnington Brewery this friendly family run, one-bar premises is the focal point of community activity in the village. Flagstone floors and open fire greet locals and visitors alike with the full range of the good value Donnington Ales available along with home cooked food." Source: https://whatpub.com/pubs/NCO/0322/coach-horses-longborough#google_vignette I didn't venture into the pub but as I passed it certainly seemed to be popular with early evening crowd. And the aroma's coming from the kitchen almost tempted me to abandon my walk and treat myself to dinner.

"This 19th century roadside spring was a main source of clean water for the village into the 20th century. The spring was donated to the village by Mrs. William (Lucy) Russell. The later inscription reads: "Water from the living rock God's precious gift to man". The spring is part of a structure that is a Grade II Listed Building." A hidden gem within the beautiful village of Blockley. Follow the public footpath on a short detour off the High Street. The babbling brook can be heard but not seen from several places but if you take the path behind the houses it breaks cover for a short distance.

I grew up near Blockley . It has changed a fair bit. But as a place to go walking it's excellent. The better walking involves some hills!!. There's a good cafe there. The walk up Dovedale is beautiful. The church is used for the filming of Fr Brown.
