Rest area for pilgrims in Viloria de Rioja, the birthplace of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, with benches and tables, shade, and a drinking fountain.

What a fortress. It has survived everything. Well, the tower may have collapsed at some point or was built later. That's why it doesn't really fit. In front of the church, as it should be, is the village square with a fountain.

Beautiful little town - as the name suggests. With great hostels and a large Plaza Mayor, where you can find many restaurants. The town is impressive because of the many paintings on the houses, but this is another highlight. Because these paintings cannot be found on the Plaza Mayor.

This church in Viloria de Rioja is remarkable. Not only that Santo Domingo was baptized there, but above all the architectural styles that were probably mixed here through additions. Brickwork, half-timbering, castle-like, then house-like again, only one window seemingly randomly installed, a small side door, with a squat church tower, but mighty bells for such a building and a polygonal wooden roof at the end of the building. I was really amazed.
