Montefalcone Appennino is located on top of a sandstone cliff, its name derives from the falcons that nest on top of the mountain called Monte del Falcone. The Sentiero della cresta is a section of path that goes from Smerillo to Montefalcone Appennino, and it is certainly the most panoramic, with a spectacular view of the Monti Sibillini and also of part of the Monti della Laga. You need to be a little careful because in some sections it is slightly exposed. Personally, I believe that this trail, but it can easily be extended to the entire area between Smerillo and Montefalcone Appennino, offers, in the Marche region, one of the most scenic and evocative panoramas of the Monti Sibillini and Monti della Laga that I remember.

Smerillo is one of the most evocative villages in the Marche region, located in the province of Fermo (FM). Although historically it was part of the province of Ascoli Piceno (AP), since 2004 it has been under the jurisdiction of Fermo. It is nicknamed the "Balcony of the Sibillini" for its incredible panoramic view that ranges from the peaks of the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic Sea.
