It's pretty much just an old stone pillar in the middle of nowhere. The landscape around is very beautiful.

The Nicolás Salmerón Park is an urban park in the city of Almería ( Spain ), between the port and the city. It is divided into three areas known as Parque Viejo, Parque Nuevo and Paseo de San Luis. The Old Park, as the area next to the port is popularly called, from the Rambla de la Chanca to the roundabout of the Fuente de los Peces, designed by Jesús de Perceval , at the foot of Calle Real, was designed by José María de Acosta and there are many centuries-old trees. The surroundings of the park are decorated with fountains and ponds, as well as street furniture and rows of palm trees. The Parque Nuevo, in turn, is an area decorated with ponds and fountains, redesigned in the seventies by Guillermo Langle Rubio on the occasion of the Spanish Navy Week. It runs from the aforementioned roundabout to Avenida de la Reina Regente.

The former main building of the station is a fine example of the iron architecture typical of the industrial and functional buildings of the second half of the 19th century. Due to its properties and ability to support heavy loads and to span large areas, iron prevailed over traditional building materials (stone and brick). Glass, used on walls and roofs, was very suitable for obtaining light and translucent structures. The main façade, facing the station square, corresponds to a tripartite structure, with the central and most important part built with the two most typical materials of the new architecture: iron and glass. At the entrance to the building, a huge stained glass window was created as a monumental portico, suitable for welcoming travelers who used this new means of transport. Stone and brick, coated with glazed ceramic, were used on the sides.
